The 50th Golden Filmfare Awards took place on Saturday, 26 February, 2005, at the MMRDA grounds at the Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai . The event was presented by SGI.
The exciting journey honours the very best in the world of Hindi cinema and travels into the magnificent past of the premier film awards of the nation. It all began in 1954 and continues with grace and glory towards the future that will herald the advent of a many a new Indian idol.
And to open the grand night, ‘Indian Idol’ finalists Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana sang for the audience. During the first interlude ‘Kisna’ actress Isha Sharvani did her well-known rope dance and unveiled the magnificent gold Filmfare trophy.
The host, dashing and debonair Saif Ali Khan entered on the crane and lit the ‘50 years’ drape fireworks display, which had ‘50th YEAR’ glowing in the background. The set (stage) was designed by Nitin Desai, recipient of six Filmfare Awards to date..
